A Seriously Practical Easel

Here’s an idea from the “clever” file: hang a roll of paper from a closet door to give your little one easy access to a continuous canvas that’s perfect for toddlers and preschoolers and their enormous creativity. To avoid the mess tape some newspaper to the door and spread a bin bag or old tablecloth on the floor.

All you need is:

  • a pair of over the door curtain hooks
  • curtain rod
  • large roll of paper
  • tape

To make just hang the curtain hooks from the door, then thread the roll of paper onto the curtain rod and sit it in the hooks. Whenever you want to use the easel, pull the paper down to the bottom of the door and tape it in place at the top and bottom. If you have paneled doors tape a bit of cardboard behind the paper so your smallie has a flat surface to paint or draw on.
