tinkering: with cardboard

Cardboard is one of my favourite materials to work with – starting life as simple kraft paper, but through some clever layering and pressing it becomes one of the most versatile, and easy to work with, crafting materials. It’s ready availability makes it the perfect cost-free material for upcycling, building and experimenting with ideas.

My recent tinkering resulted in ‘a cat’ as you can see, and I’m not even a cat person!!

Being that Halloween is fast approaching you may choose to paint in black and add some googly eyes and white pipe cleaners but for now I’m leaving my desk cat in it’s raw and natural cardboard beauty :)

Download the cutting templates to make your own cat here Stencil Page One and Stencil Page Two
Tip: Using thick corrugated cardboard will give the best results.

My all time favourite book which celebrates the limitless possibilities of a cardboard box is Not a Box by Antoinette Portis – if you don’t have a copy go buy it straight away xx
