Fairy Crafts: Make A Felt Daisy Chain Crown

Sitting on the grass wiling away the summer hours making daisy chains is classic childhood fun. Many the afternoon I spent with my sisters threading the pretty flowers and making sweet smelling necklaces and bracelets. I think I’ll do just that with Molly this weekend – the chats while we sit and make are always my favourite part of making together :)

Being the biggest fans of fairies and fairy crafts in Casa MollyMoo I am super delighted to have Stephanie back with us today with this gorgeous felt variation of the classic, for all year round whimsical dress up fun. I think it would make for a lovely garland for hanging on a little girls bedroom wall, or decorating a playhouse door too – so so pretty.

My daughter, as you can see, loves to use this felt flower crown as part of her dressing up – playing flower princesses and fairies is her thing!

It’s very easy and quick to make – you can go the no-sew route with fabric glue or just make a few little stitches here and there, it’s entirely up to you. Either way your little fairy will love it.

All you need to make

– grey and white felt
– yellow buttons
– glue or sewing thread and needle
– scissors

Step 1
Cut out your felt pieces:
– rectangles of white felt 38mm x 240mm, one rectangle per daisy
– 3 strips of grey felt 5mm wide (they need to be long enough to fit around your child’s head and hang as far down their back as you would like)

Step 2
With your scissors cut into the white felt strips of at regular intervals (it will look a little like fringe) and round off the corners.

Step 3
Gather each white felt strip and wind into the daisy shape as shown in the next photograph, and secure in position with glue or sewing thread.

To make the daisy heads glue or sew a yellow button in the centre of each flower.

Step 4
Next plait the grey felt strips together and secure each end with a knot or glue.

Step 5
Attach the daisy heads at regular intervals, to your felt flower crown with glue or by sewing.

Now your little fairy is ready to play, and fly and magic her way around the garden.
