First year at montessori

Loyolas Montessori School

Just two days into the holidays and Molly misses school already – I heard ‘I love school’ this morning at breakfast – not something I ever said I can assure you :)

The first year in montessori has been incredible for M – the growth in confidence, ability to make new friends her own age instead of viewing them as competition (I remember the ‘it’s mine’ phase very fondly) and her determination to do things ‘by her own’ is remarkable. Just last September she started in Loyolas a quiet little mouseling, they didn’t know what her voice sounded like until the end of the first term I think. We should have named her ‘Ginger’. more

The last week at school was enviable, they had a little tour and picnic at Stonehall Farm (and saw ‘spitting llamas’), sports day (where everyone got a medal) and they finished with a garden party and bbq on the last day. There were carpark hugs from Teacher Ann and Teacher Judith and tears in the eyes of parents whose kids were moving onto ‘big school’. Loyola’s Montessori School is an oasis of calm in the Quaker Meeting Hall, Southville Gardens, Ballinacurra – a beautiful place for kids to enjoy their pre-school years. I can’t recommend this school highly enough. See you in September Ann & thank you.
