The Very Hungry Caterpillar

egg carton craftOne of M’s well-worn books is the Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle – it was nice to have a story to go along with this little craft idea found. How To Made It: >Cut egg carton into strips (job for mum) – the example has a run of 6 so I sellotaped two strips from the standard half dozen egg carton together. Paint the caterpillar body. After paint is dry, insert pipe cleaner into one end to create the antennae of the head. Glue googly eyes onto face.
Problem now is that we need to make a butterfly!

more simple caterpillar and bug ideas…

Paper loops and string
Cut toilet rolls in half or sellotape some paper loops, paint and make as many joints as you want :)

More egg carton recycling
Cut apart egg carton into individual cups. Paint the bugs however you’d like. Punch three holes on each side and insert pipe cleaners that have been cut into three equal sections
